WINDOWS 8 NEW FILE SYSTEM – PROTOGON

Since the NTFS filesystem was introduced with Windows NT, ITWorld’s Sando Villinger seems to have discovered that Windows 8 may perhaps be the OS that Microsoft will use to debut a next generation filesystem – Protogon.
I’ve also dug up traces of some underlying file system changes that I couldn’t quite make sense of, such as an entirely new file system driver called “NT Protogon FS driver”, which looks like a kernel mode driver for some sort of (yet unknown) file system called Protogon. It’s unclear, whether this is a major new file system or just some minor subsystem.

In the pre-beta leak build examined, there was also a new Windows service called “Spot Verifier.” Although not specifically stated, further examination within DLL files showed that this service allows for checking of bad-sectors in real time, so they can be identified in order to avoid data loss or damage. Could this service be a result of the capabilities of Protogon?
